Ultra NT SCIF Barrier is a heavy duty radiant barrier sheet made up of a single layer of woven polyethylene material bonded to - and sandwiched between - two highly reflective aluminum surfaces. Ultra NT is designed for use in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF’s). In addition to being a highly effective radiant barrier, Ultra NT # 1800-48-125S is also an approved vapor barrier.

 ULTRA NT SCIF BARRIER

* The following installation guidelines are for informational purposes only and are not intended to supersede
any Architectural Specifications. The Architectural Specifications for any particular job shall override the
information presented on this Installation Sheet with regards to the appropriate products to use and the
appropriate installation method to use for that particular job.

 1) Unroll the SCIF barrier and cut it to the appropriate length to cover all walls, ceilings and floors of the
room or building that you want shielded from RF transmission. The SCIF barrier should be cut 12” longer
than the length of the wall, ceiling or floor to be covered.

2a) If the building is made of wood framing, you can staple the SCIF barrier to the wood directly– stapling
      every 6”-10”.

2b) To install on steel studs, SCIF barrier may be held in place using tape.

2c) If the building is made of concrete, then a general purpose construction adhesive or spray on contact
adhesive can be used to adhere the SCIF barrier to the wall.

2d) In some cases, the SCIF barrier must be installed between two layers of 5/8” gypsum board. It is
recommended to use black phosphate fine thread drywall screws for panel installation unless otherwise
specified – please consult the architectural specifications.

 3) Make sure to overlap all SCIF barrier joints by 6” and seal all seams using a foil tape. The
recommendation to use a foil tape does not supersede the Architectural Specifications of any
particular job which may call for an electrically conductive tape.

 4) When you reach the top of a wall, extend the SCIF barrier so that it wraps around the corner
and onto the ceiling for 6”.

 5) When you reach the bottom of a wall, extend the SCIF barrier so that it wraps around the
corner and onto the floor for 6”.

 6) Install more SCIF barrier material on the ceiling and floor to complete the job.

 7) Single point grounding has been shown to have a positive effect on SCIF enclosure performance.
Grounding may be from any single point of the SCIF enclosure, but must be separated from electrical
     grounding for the building.

Please remember these general rules: make sure all joints have a minimum 6” overlap and that all seams are
sealed using aluminum foil tape. It is important to make sure that all wall, ceiling, and floor surfaces are
covered using SCIF barrier material. Once installed, the SCIF barrier can be covered with any type of finish.
If drywall is used to finish the walls and ceilings it is also recommended to use black phosphate fine thread
drywall screws for panel installation unless otherwise specified.

NOTE: The Manufacturer reserves the right to make physical changes in the “look” of the woven polyethylene core material. This does not in any way change the
thermal and other performance characteristics of the material. Changes in the woven polyethylene material is made from time to time to enhance the “no tear “
capabilities / strength of the material. The foil facings remain unchanged.
