Did you know that the majority of Heat Loss in winter

and Heat Gain in summer occurs through your ceiling / roof ?
50% - 75% up heat flow in winter
and up to
93% down heat flow in summer

SO CHOOSING THE RIGHT RADIANT BARRIER IS IMPORTANT !

Despite the fact that they have been proven to be one of the most effective
forms of insulation, the old adage,

you get what you pay for applies to radiant barriers.

Because of the popularity of radiant barriers, many builders, architects, insulation contractors and
homeowners are turning to the product for residential insulation. But not all radiant barriers are alike. While
some radiant barriers may seem to offer the same benefits at a cheap price, is sometimes just what it
sounds like, thin lower quality radiant barriers are not always your best value.

This is particularly true of deck-applied radiant barrier, the lowest-rated radiant barriers on the market
today. Manufactured with easily damaged materials and applied with glue, deck-applied radiant barriers
cannot be factory-repaired; so on-the-job repairs will always show. The wood that includes foil on the
  underside and
must be thrown away is wasted material. Unnecessary costs include wood that cannot be
  flipped on hip
roofs. This and the fall-down can account for as much as 20% waste. What's more, you are
  restricted to a
specific type of wood with deck-applied radiant barriers.

In contrast, radiant barrier rafter application offers a SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN PERFORMANCE
as compared to standard deck-applied radiant barrier applications. Whereas standard deck-applied radiant
barriers offer one layer of protection with one airspace, under rafter installed radiant barrier has two layers
of protection with airspaces to enhance protection. And each of the two reflective surfaces of the radiant
barrier reduces radiant heat transfer up to 97%.

Under Roof Rafter installation
Most Effective -Best Installation Method
* TWO LAYERS of protection with air spaces to enhance performance
* MINIMUM 17 % IMPROVEMENT in performance over standard deck applied
radiant barrier applications

Not as Effective
* Only one layer of protection
* No additional air spaces

* Pure conduction of heat occurs where Radiant Barrier is sandwiched between trust and roof deck
* Trusses re-radiate heat down, reducing overall performance

Radiant Barrier also qualifies for Florida Energy Code and California Title 24 Energy Code Credits, and its
Energy Star Partner Rating helps homeowners qualify for energy-efficient mortgages.

So why do deck-applied radiant barriers seem so cheap?

Because they are, and YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR !

The RIGHT Attic Radiant Barrier is the real cost-effective solution, one
that provides 100 % customer satisfaction, energy-efficiency and builder profitability all at the same time.

DID YOU KNOW that an ATTIC RADIANT BARRIER SYSTEM
 is far more ENERGY EFFICIENT
and Cost Efficient than a spray foam system ?

Builders, architects, insulation contractors and homeowners have a variety of choices when it comes to
residential insulation. While some of those choices may, on the surface, seem to offer the same benefits,
when one looks deeper, the true value becomes clear.

Many builders have turned to low-density spray foam insulation systems because of a perceived difference in
cost and profit margin. The truth is that radiant barriers significantly improves the quality of a home and,
with a standard mark-up, is far more profitable.

Under many if not most states Building Code, foam insulation is required to be covered with drywall it
cannot be left exposed. Not so with radiant barriers. Most of the codes also requires a 1-perm or less vapor
barrier / retarder over the foam to the exterior of the roof deck for asphalt shingles. The vapor barrier /
retarder will get punctured when the shingles are installed. With Attic Radiant Barrier, that problem is
obviated by the fact that field and inside support personnel, along with insulation contractors, are readily
available to service your needs on a local level. With foam insulation, you must rely on licensed dealers and
 distributors to service your needs.

As for the cost issue, Attic Radiant Barrier plus R-30 Fiberglass Batt Insulation equals about $1.25 per
square foot when installed; while low-density .05 lb. spray foam insulation runs approximately $2.00-$2.50
for R-19 value. Even if the installed cost were the same, the customer gets better performance with the
Radiant Barrier --- that makes it a better value
. What’s more, homes will achieve 12% for vented attic
Radiant Barrier system versus standard R-19 insulation. And peak demand reductions are 16% -- 3x more
effective than adding more insulation. With spray foam, energy savings is only 9% compared to standard
R-19 insulation on ceilings as tested by the Florida Solar Energy Center Flexible Roofing Facility in 2000,
with a peak demand reduction of just 5%.

As a result, homeowners will enjoy a far better return on investment with Attic
 Radiant Barrier plus R-30
fiberglass batt insulation versus spray foam with
 standard R-19 insulation.

For saving energy and improving comfort, Attic Radiant Barrier is the preferred
option for increasing energy-efficiency, reducing utility bills and improving
overall comfort in residential construction today.

BTUBUSTERS tm Attic Radiant Barrier " The RIGHT Radiant Barrier"

BTUBUSTERS tm Radiant Barrier for Attics is a perforated sheet made up of a single layer of
woven polyethylene bonded to - and sandwiched between - two highly reflective radiant barrier
sheets, and in addition to the manufacturers warranty,
BTUBUSTERS tm Radiant Barrier is covered
 by our Lifetime Extended Warranty.

BTUBUSTERS tm Radiant Barrier helps reduce air conditioning costs in the summer, while
reducing heating costs in the winter. In addition to energy savings, a radiant barrier can significantly
enhance a home’s level of comfort.

BTUBUSTERS tm Radiant Barrier provides superior strength for any application. A Radiant
Barrier System (RBS) is a building construction consisting of a low emittance (normally 0.1 or less)
surface (usually aluminum foil) bounded by an open air space. RBS is used for the sole purpose of
limiting heat transfer by radiation and is not specifically intended to reduce heat transfer by
 convection or conduction.
99 % Pure Aluminum on both sides.

BTUBUSTERS tm Radiant Barrier is recommended for most all climate conditions. It's main
purpose is to stop Radiant Heat from entering and escaping through your ROOF, CEILING and
Walls. Another popular use for Radiant Barriers is as HOUSE WRAP. The 97% Radiant Heat
stopping ability actually increases the Thermal Performance of your insulation in your ceilings and
walls. ( See report here )

Q - How do I determine the best place to install BTUBUSTERS Radiant Barrier ?

A - Climate factors need to be considered.

1. Mostly Hot Climate = Your Energy Bill is greater in the SUMMER for Cooling than
your Energy bill for heating in the winter. More HOT WEATHER than COLD.

2. Mostly Equal Climate = Your Energy Bills for Cooling and Heating are about equal.
About the same HOT & COLD WEATHER.

3. Mostly Cold Climate = Your Energy Bills are more for Heating than your Energy Bills
are for Cooling. More COLD WEATHER than HOT.

B - Do you have Attic mounted HVAC Equipment / Duct Work ? ALL CLIMATES.

Generally, if you live in a climate areas #1 or #2, then the under the roof rafter installation
( fig # 2 ) in existing construction is recommended . In new construction, either pic #1 or #2
applies. Installation as in pic #3 in these climate areas are ok, BUT if you have Attic
Mounted HVAC Equipment / Duct Work , insulating the HVAC Duct Work is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

If you live in climate area #3, then installation as in pic # 3 is recommended. Insulating any
Attic Mounted HVAC Duct Work is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Our BTUBUSTERS

is recommended for all applications as shown below.

( Figures # 1, #2 & #3.

In new construction and re-roofing an existing home where the plywood roof decking is being replaced,
there is an alternative, which offers the advantages of location 2 while providing the construction ease
of location 1. This technique places the radiant barrier on top of the roof rafters (or trusses) before the
roof decking is applied. It is installed so that it droops 1 1/2 to 2 inches below the upper surface of the
   roof structure.

When the roof decking is applied, an  airspace separates it from the radiant barrier in a way similar to
that of location 2. This airspace also can be vented separately from the attic.  As with location 2 the most

reflective radiant barrier surface should face downward toward the attic airspace.
